چکیده

We examine the problem of indexing objects in animated movies. We consider an animated movie as consisting of a frame sequence where each frame is described by objects in a 2-dimensional space. The queries of interest are of the form: \\nd the objects that were in area S between frames fi and fj". The straightforward approach to index such objects is to consider the frame sequence as another dimension and use a 3-dimensional access method (like an R-tree) to index all objects. Instead we propose to reduce the problem to a partial-persistence problem, that is, use a 2-dimensional access method that is made partially persistent. We show that this approach leads to faster query time while still using space proportional to the total number of changes in the frame evolution.

Indexing Animated Objects Using Spatiotemporal Access Methods

We present a new approach for indexing animated objects and efficiently answering queries about their position in time and space. In particular, we consider an animated movie as a evolution. A movie is viewed as an ordered sequence of frames, where each frame is a 2-dimensional space occupied by the objects that appear in that frame. The queries of interest are range queries of the form: “find ...

Visual{Textual Prototyping of 4D Scenes

3D-graphics become popular in a steadily increasing number of areas like entertainment, scienti c visualization, simulation, and virtual reality. Despite this rapid growth the generation of animated 3D scenes is still by no means trivial. Since animated 3D objects evolve over time we denote these objects as 4D. This article presents a novel approach to the rapid prototyping of 4D models. We int...

Rio: rhetorical structure theory based indexing technique for image objects

Efficient and relevant retrieval of any type of the data, especially multimedia objects, is based on indexing technique. Due to complexity of multimedia data, existing indexing techniques for multimedia objects suffer from irrelevant retrieval. Rhetorical Structure Theory (RST) has already been successfully implemented for indexing text documents, which has reduced irrelevancy. The focus of thi...

Controlled Metamorphosis of Animated Objects

Although many animation, deformation and metamorphosis techniques have been proposed, the simultaneous combination of those three transformations has never been addressed for three dimensional objects so far. This paper presents a framework for controlling metamorphosis between two animated implicit models built from skeletal elements. It relies on the animated BlobTree model that encompasses t...
